Exploring Entrepreneurship

Exploring Entrepreneurship introduces middle and high school students to the concept of entrepreneurship and focuses on the role of four key skills in starting a business: problem solving, empathy, financial literacy and the success mindset.

This workshop is approximately 2 hours long and can accommodate up to 45 students at a time.

Exploring Entrepreneurship includes the following:
  • Discussing what entrepreneurship is and dispelling myths about it
  • Watching video clips of and discussing real student entrepreneurs
  • Letting students practice the first step of entrepreneurship – idea generation – in small groups. Includes discussion of problem solving as the foundation of any successful business and introduction to the Multi Mind Map Approach that I often use to help students generate business ideas.
  • Playing The Entrepreneur Game, a board game that challenges students to use a variety of academic skills to build a fictional business empire from scratch. Students can test out their entrepreneurial chops and learn the basics of starting home-based and brick-and-mortar businesses.
  • Debriefing about game time (lessons learned, questions raised, etc.)
  • Wrap-up
    • Access to my free resources
    • The Entrepreneur Game - One game can be raffled off to a student or gifted to the school. (Your choice.)
